Still confused

  • I am still confused as to what the difference in the Web Site Assignment #1 and #2 and Web Site Check #1.
  • I don't see a huge difference in the assignments. Unless they are suppose to be for a second website, which they don't say.
  • I am not sure when we should start our second website.
  • I also don't understand how the two websites will be different.
  • Since information is basically teaching something.
  • I am going to do something similar to the first website.
  • I am still not sure when I need to start it.
  • I am very confused when one website is finished and the other one starts. Or if we are working on them both simultaneously. Which is very confusing.
  • Especially when I have other projects going on at school that I am creating.
  • I guess I will email the professor and ask.

Readings

I like the discussion board better than the chat rooms. I like the fact that a teacher could have several discussions going on at once. I think the discussion boards are a little safer than chat rooms. Since it would only be open to students in the class. I don't think with discussion boards the students would be "out there" as much like they would in chat rooms.

I don't have much experience with chat rooms so I don't know exactly how they work. I like that the discussion board you can see everyone's comments for each topic. I like that their name is attached to their comment so they are accountable for what they say.

I teach 4th - 8th grade Computers. At the beginning of the year I teach a few lessons on Internet Safety. We talk about chat rooms and how they shouldn't be in them unless their parents are watching etc. I think that it would be confusing for me to have them use a chat room for school. I think that would send a message that they are okay and safe. We all know that not all of them are. I think discussion boards would be less confusing for them. They should be able to tell the difference between discussion boards and chat rooms.

Frustrated

I am so frustrated.

  • It is Monday night and I should be done.
  • I had all day off and I took my baby to the sitter so I could work on the website.
  • I got a few more pages added, but I got none of the things on the rubric accomplished.
  • I can't add a Target Window or Frame in Publisher.
  • I don't even think that I can add a Bookmark in Publisher
  • Then I at least tried to FTP what I had accomplished to my website and it won't work. It only has the last time that I did it. I tried it twice and even tried deleting everything once and reloading it. It still isn't working.
  • My brother-in-law is going to come over to see if he can help me.
  • I want to at least have a link to a Word page that is a website, then maybe I can include some of the features.
  • I will still have the problem of it not loading onto my website.

2nd Assignment

  • I need to figure out how to set the hyperlink to open in a new window. I have tried several things and they all seem to want me to use html. I have no idea what I am looking at or what it all means.
  • I am not sure I will be able to do this.
  • I want to check to see if I can just copy and paste the link as a new window from Word, however I want it to link in my own website set up in Publisher and not Word.
  • I need to create at least 2 more pages. I would really like to know how many pages our final page will be required to have so I know how much to put on each page.
  • I need to add 3 advanced features. So far I think the only thing I can(know how to) add is Bookmarks.
  • I need to change my text in my links at the bottom of my navigation bar.

Website

  • This week I want to get at least 4 more pages on my teaching website.
  • I went to the METC confrence and learned some new things about Google Earth. So I want to download the new version and play with it.
  • Since I am creating my website about Google Earth I am hoping this helps.

Publisher

  • I am going to use Publisher to produce my websites.
  • I am a little scared because I am not sure who will be able to help me if I get stuck.
  • The layout was easy.
  • Designing it was easy.
  • One problem I am having is to find an easy way to edit the names of the pages at the bottom. They are already links and I can't just click and edit. They were already set up to say things like contact us instead of contact me. I was able change the page names, but not the link names.
  • Today I am going to try to put some information on each page.
  • I already have them linked to each other.
  • I have links to my email and to my blog.
  • I want to have an idea for my topic today.
